Oggi vi parlo di un altro bel fiore, la Magnolia Liliflora (sinonimo Magnolia purpurea)
Originaria della Cina, fu introdotta in Europa nel 1970. In Giappone vive allo stato spontaneo. Un'altra specie a foglia caduca e portamento arbiustiivo che raggiunge l'altezza di 3/4 m. Fiorisce tra aprile e giugno e, a differenza di altre Magnolie, ha un periodo di fioritura prolungato e una seconda fioritura autunnale anche se molto meno abbondante.
I fiori sono eretti e chiusi, con petali lunghi circa 7/8 cm e larghi 3/4. Il loro colore va dal bianco al porpora che sfuma nel bianco esternamente.
Le foglie sono lunghe circa 10/20 cm e larghe la metà, ovate, appuntite e di color verde scuso. Ne esistono diverse cultivar tra le quali:"Nigra" a portamento compatto, fiori più grandi porpora molto scuro all'esterno; "Purpurea", che ha fiori grandi di color porpora scuro alla base, sfumati di rosa porpora verso l'apice.
